SDU & Fusion FC Spring 2025 Collaboration – FAQ
South Delta United (SDU) is partnering with Fusion FC for the Spring Cascadia 2025 season. Fusion FC teams will play under the SDU banner while operating independently. This FAQ explains what this means for SDU families.
-
Fusion FC is a high-performance community sports organization, recognized by Soccer Canada as a National Youth License Club.
Formed in 2011, by members of Vancouver FC and Richmond Soccer Association, Fusion FC was created to compete at the highest level of soccer in Canada. BC Soccer and Vancouver Whitecaps granted Fusion FC ownership as one of the founding eight original BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) teams.
Fusion FC has a long history of developing successful soccer players, many Fusion players have earned university/college placements and scholarships over the years, in Canada, the US or in Europe. Fusion has also developed players that have gone on to play for our province as well as our country. Learn more about Fusion FC here.

SDU has been in discussions with Fusion FC for some time about working together to strengthen soccer in our communities. This partnership aligns with our long-term vision by increasing resources, expanding coaching support, and creating more player development opportunities, including a potential pathway to BCSPL.
At the same time, district administrative changes have created the need for Fusion FC to be supported by a recognized club for this upcoming spring season, and we want to help out. By stepping in, SDU is reinforcing our commitment to community soccer and using this as a low-impact opportunity to try something new while continuing to explore how a potential long-term partnership could benefit both clubs.
As part of this initial collaboration Fusion FC Coaches, Jason Jordan, Brent Branker and Cassandra Sammarco will be joining our coaching team to support our Spring Academy and Spring Grassroots programming.
-
There will be no changes to SDU rosters, teams, or training schedules. Fusion FC teams have already been formed and will remain as they are.
-
No. This is not a player merger. Fusion FC players will remain on their existing teams and play under SDU’s registration for this Spring Cascadia Season.
-
No SDU teams will lose field access. Fusion FC teams are currently scheduled to play in Richmond. However, there is a small possibility that some of their games may need to be played on SDU fields. If that happens, we have the space to accommodate these games.
-
No. Fusion FC will handle all costs related to their teams and players.
-
This is a temporary affiliation for Spring 2025 only. However, SDU has been exploring partnerships that could benefit our club in the future. This arrangement allows us to test a working relationship with minimal impact on our club. Any decisions regarding future collaboration will be carefully evaluated, and any changes will be communicated to our members.
-
No. SDU remains committed to pursuing multiple pathways to BCSPL and will continue to support SDU players in reaching this level. This collaboration does not limit our future options—everything remains on the table. This is simply an opportunity to support a neighboring club while evaluating potential benefits for SDU.
